Heads-Up Thoughts (pPlayer.com)
Filed under: Television A few quick personal thoughts on this past weekend's NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship action: 1. Really enjoyed the production on this week's shows. More poker was shown, and plenty of tables - although often limited to just one or two hands - got in on the action. There's only so much they can show in one hour (ish) of television. 2. The James Woods vs. Johnny Chan matchup deserves some extended analysis and discussion, but I will say that it's been the best action thus far on the show. How Woods went from supremely confident to downright passive and intimidated in a matter of a few hands was remarkable to me. Good stuff.
3. In the Phillips/Hellmuth matchup, somehow Hellmuth managed to put Phillips on tilt. That was not what I expected out of those two. I also enjoy how Hellmuth becomes your best friend after a win...classic. Hellmuth's line - "Well, obviously." - in response to a Phillips complement (backhanded?) was also right out of the Hellmuth playbook.
4. Catch the replay this week on CNBC...it's worth it.
