University Student Wins Big In Bahamas
Steve Paul-Ambrose is a university student by day and a professional poker play by night, one of these professions has earned him $1.3 million in the Bahamas this week.
Over the last couple year’s the business and science major at the University of Waterloo in Canada has worked on his poker skills by playing up to four hours a day on the internet with his roommate Aaron Coulthard. This experience came in handy at last weekend's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure at the Atlantis Casino Resort in the Bahamas.
"They go and play maybe three and four hours a day and it's really intense because they're calculating everything, they have all the figures and the odds worked out. It's not just like they're fooling around," explained Paul-Ambrose and Coulthard's roommate.
Their basement apartment is loaded with computer equipment used in their online poker wars. There are two large monitors attached to each computer that are used to play an average of eight online games at a time. They also track their poker success records with spreadsheets that outline how each online game turned out for them.
Both students managed to qualify for the tournament by playing online. Coulthard went out early in the event, while Paul-Ambrose stayed in for the long haul and brought the pot to Canada.
