Alex Rodriguez Drops the Bat for a Flush

Alex Rodriguez is well-known for his skills at the plate, New York Yankee management would prefer him not to be known for his skills at the poker table.

According to a recent newspaper report the New York Yankee third baseman was warned by Yankee’s management that playing poker could be harmful to his image and they would prefer him to stop.

The article stated that A-Rod is attending underground games hosted by professional poker player Phil Hellmuth. Playing in clubs such as Hellmuth’s is not illegal for Rodriguez, but it is illegal to operate them.

Scott Boras, Rodriguez’s agent denies there are any frictions between his client and his team.

“The Yankees have never addressed or spoken with me in regard to any off-field activities regarding Alex Rodriguez. And the Yankees have never spoken to Alex regarding any of his off-field activities,” said Boras.

The story claims that MLB commissioner Bud Selig is watching how the situation works out and can become involved if he feels it’s needed.
