Local business makes poker a scholarship contest By Sara Faiwell

Poker, anyone? Two Stevenson High School graduates are betting their luck will pay off with a new business they ve launched that allows college students across the country to play poker for a chance to win scholarship money.

That’s right, playing a strong hand of Texas Hold ’Em may mean a shot at money that will help chip away at college tuition and book fees."We know we’re playing a game of chance and a game that people use for gambling," said Jason Beck, 21, from Long Grove. "But this is about kids playing with their peers, competing for things that are good for them."Beck and his friend Craig Rabin, 21, from Buffalo Grove, started Collegiate Poker Tour Events a few months ago. The two graduated from college this May.
